How to get a personal euro IBAN

If you are paid in euro by an employer, clients or family abroad, a euro IBAN in your own name makes it simple: you share one account number and people pay you with a normal bank transfer. This guide explains what a euro IBAN is, what it looks like, who it suits and how to get one with Odix Pay.
What is a euro IBAN?
An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standard way of writing an account number so that payments between countries reach the right account. A euro IBAN is simply an IBAN for an account that receives money in euro. In Europe, euro payments to an IBAN usually travel as SEPA transfers.
A personal euro IBAN is one issued in your own name, for your own money, not for a company. When someone pays it, the payment shows that it went to you. New to IBANs in general? See what an IBAN is.
How a euro IBAN looks: how it starts and how long it is
Every IBAN follows the same pattern:
Two letters for the country where the account is held.
Two check digits that help catch typing mistakes.
The bank and account details, in a format set by that country.
So a euro IBAN starts with the country code of the account, not of your nationality or where you live. Its length depends on that country, up to 34 characters in total. Your own IBAN, written in full, is shown in the Odix Pay app.
Who a personal euro IBAN suits
People paid in euro by an employer, for example while working remotely for a company in Europe.
Freelancers and independent workers who invoice clients in their own name.
Families who send and receive support between countries.
Anyone who sells personal items or gets refunds and repayments in euro.
It is a personal account number. If you need an account for a company, that is a different product.
Where you can get one with Odix Pay
The personal euro IBAN is available in many countries, including Türkiye, Israel, the UK and most Balkan countries. Availability depends on your country and your verification, and the app shows whether the euro IBAN is open to you before you start.

Receiving money: salary, clients and family
The people paying you don't need Odix Pay. They pay your IBAN like any other bank account. Each payment arrives in your history with the sender's name, the amount and the reference, so you can see who paid. Incoming payments are checked for security and compliance, which can sometimes delay them, and a payment that doesn't match your account details may be returned to the sender. Sending your balance to your own bank account
Your balance stays in the currency it arrived in. When you want the money in your bank at home, you send it by transfer to your own bank account after an additional address verification. If that account is in another currency, the conversion happens as part of the transfer: for example, euro sent to a Turkish bank account arrives as Turkish lira. The app shows the rate and the amount that will arrive before you confirm, and any fees are shown before you send. See also how to send money abroad.

How you open it | At the bank or its app, under its rules | In the app, with identity verification |
Getting money home | Bank transfer | Transfer to your own bank account after an additional address verification; conversion only during the transfer |
Which suits you depends on what you need. For a wider comparison, read whether a payment app or a bank suits you better.
Staying safe with your IBAN
An IBAN can only be used to send money to you, so sharing it is normal. Share it only with people you expect to pay you.
Never share passwords, one-time codes or card details together with your IBAN.
If someone pays you "by mistake" and asks you to send it back elsewhere, contact support first.
Good to know
Your personal euro IBAN is an account number in your name for receiving payments into your Odix Pay balance. Odix Pay is a payment app, not a bank, and your balance is not a bank deposit. Balances are safeguarded in a segregated account at our licensed partner and are not covered by a deposit protection or compensation scheme. Supported payment types and availability depend on your country and are shown in the app. Any fees are shown in the app before you confirm.
